Conducting deep travel research will help you find unique experiences you may not have readily available in person, as well as avoid tourist traps. Planning ahead will also impacts how well you are able to stay on budget. The better you research and plan, the more you can reduce surprise expenses and unnecessary spending.
I have been travelling all my life, and have developed a system that works for me. Now, I use this same system to design personalized itineraries for my clients. Every client’s needs are totally different, and this guide helps me stay as organized as possible.

Part 1 - The Planning Phase
I recorded this video as I was planning my very own trip of a lifetime to Japan. I show you the different tools that I use in the process, and how I create research categories to stay as organized as possible.
Part 2 - The Research Phase
Once we have a plan and a structure of what we are looking for, it is time to start with the bulk research. In this video we discuss in order of priority what to look into first, and how to diversify our research sources.
Part 3 - Making the Itinerary
Finally, after weeks of deep diving into the WWW, we are ready to make an itinerary. Using Google My Maps, we create a custom map in order to visualize all of the research we have done.
